The Comité du cœur, a shared solidarity
The Comité du cœur is an association founded in 1951 and registered as a charity since 1953. Its purpose is to help authors and composers who are facing serious financial difficulties.
At present, more than 1,500 Sacem members allocate a small percentage of their royalties to fund the Comité du cœur, which in turn offers every year one-off financial aids to artists facing serious difficulties, provided they can prove that they have made a living from their royalties.
Bequests and assignments of rights have also resulted in the creation of awards to recognise creators who have followed in the donors’ path.
The constant work carried out by the Comité du cœur throughout the year to respond efficiently, and often in urgent situations, to the ever-increasing need for mutual aid is the result of the Board and the Chevalier committee members’ commitment, acting with the enthusiasm, discipline and humanity that their mission of support and solidarity requires.

“The true face of music is sharing. Although fraternity is written on our facades, it all too often gives way to individualism and inward-looking behaviour. More than ever, we need to rally around our shared values. Only together we can ensure the dignity of our professions.”

“The Comité du cœur also provides support for social and musical associations.
It gives awards, each one of them being as much a token of admiration as a welcome financial boost.”— Claude Lemesle, author and vice-president of the Comité du cœur
