Overcoming crisis together
One crisis follows another. Let’s go back to 2020, to the start of the health crisis. Our charity rallied together with Sacem to contribute to a large-scale emergency plan. For more than two years, the Comité du cœur supported and assisted creators facing difficulties as a result of the economic slowdown. Today, we’d like to give you some figures on the various actions we’ve taken.
The health crisis we have faced since 2020 has been of unprecedented proportions. Confronted with one of the most dreadful viruses we have ever known, confinement measures were quickly put in place to protect the most vulnerable people.
This period of confinement was extremely difficult for the artistic community. Deprived of work, stage or studio, creators were cut off from their ability to create, to make us dream. Beyond the professional aspect, life paths were also shattered; some had to cope with illness or bereavement, others with separations or family break-ups……
An unprecedented mobilisation
This dramatic situation has reminded us how vital is the solidarity work carried out by the Comité du cœur for over 70 years. In April 2020, the association decided to join forces with Sacem to put in place a major programme.
This unprecedented mobilisation was reflected both in terms of budget, with a double increase in the regular budget of the Comité du cœur and the financial contribution resulting from the major partnership signed with Sacem, and from a human standpoint, with the Chevalier committee meeting almost weekly and a large number of files being examined.
For more than two years, the entire Comité team, its Managing Director and the members of its Board of Directors have worked tirelessly to help songwriters and composers hit by the crisis get back on their feet.

This financial support, granted to more than 2,000 people in need, made possible to provide assistance for the elderly, to help people stay in their homes, to provide support in the event of hospitalisation or death, and more generally, it has provided essential support to help people cope with day-to-day living expenses in a context of loss of income and spiralling inflation.
Staying alert to the growing precariousness of creative professions
This ability to react rapidly and efficiently during the health crisis has proven that the Comité du cœur’s social expertise and unwavering commitment to solidarity are the best remedy for the various crises that threaten creators’ livelihoods.
Today, the health crisis is (hopefully) behind us, but the struggle is not over. We are facing a new crisis with the rise of digital technology, and conflicts around the world are leading to a decline in consumer spending, which is impacting the cultural sector. The charity is therefore continuing its work with even stronger conviction and dedication, supporting its members as they face increasing uncertainty in the creative careers.
Your support in helping us take tangible action is invaluable, and we are grateful for it. As always, we count on you to spread the word about our commitment and rally together around this fight led by creators, for creators. All your donations and contributions go towards our fund to help creators in need.
