“When I was in extreme distress,
unwell and without resources, the Comité du cœur
offered me financial support and guidance.
What a tremendous gesture from this committee!”

— Marie-Paule Belle

Mutual aid and support: the Chevalier committee

;

The Comité du cœur has the ability to grant one-off financial support to members in serious difficulty who can prove that they live or have lived off their royalties.

To be eligible for assistance from the Comité du cœur, you must send a letter explaining your situation, accompanied by a copy of your latest tax assessment, your latest income tax return and any supporting documents relating to the difficulties you are facing.

The Chevalier committee named as tribute to Maurice Chevalier, is responsible for reviewing and deciding upon individual applications for assistance and financial aid.

In 2020, as the Covid-19 health crisis struck authors, composers and music publishers hard, the Comité du cœur provided exceptional aid and support to those in financial distress through a dedicated fund.

“The Comité du cœur, through the Chevalier commission, honours us by showing the true nature of music: sharing.”

— Patrick Sigwalt, composer

“I see the Comité du cœur as a chain that connects us all, with each one of us being a link in it: those who compose or write redistribute to others the fruit of their inspiration.

By joining the Comité du cœur, you contribute to the momentum that makes authors and composers a unified community. You welcome others, reach out to them, notice when smiles hide distress, and try to ease their worries.

It’s never too late to join.”

— Vanessa Bertran, dubbing author
